Concerné depuis des années par le développement durable, il était en effet naturel qu’Air Products s’implique comme il l’a fait dès son ébauche dans ce programme d’engagement national visant à réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre grâce à un effort de rationalisation du transport des gros chargeurs. Ce faisant, le Groupe souhaitait donner l’exemple aux industriels de tous secteurs et démontrer qu’écologie peut rimer avec efficacité et économie. Le pari semble réussi.
Among the actions successfully implemented, Fabrice Langlais - Northern Continent Supply Chain Manager Packaged Gases - is pleased to highlight :
- Effective redesign of tour creation strategies. Air Products has completely redesigned its transportation plans for direct deliveries to its customers and dealers. Delivery areas have been re-divided and their frequencies adapted to changing customer needs. They have also been integrated into the process when necessary. This painstaking work enabled the fleet to be reduced by around 10%.
– L’adoption bénéfique de semi-remorques plus légères grâce à un design innovant. Les équipements sélectionnés sont environ plus légers de 2 tonnes qu’un véhicule standard. De fabrication autrichienne, Air Products a dû faire homologuer en France ces semi-remorques avec l’aide de son transporteur. Le poids étant le facteur limitant du transport de bouteilles de gaz, en adoptant des ensembles plus légers, il est possible, soit d’économiser du carburant en transportant moins de poids (de 10 à 15% durant les tests de 4 semaines en 2013 en Auvergne), soit de charger plus de marchandises sur la tournée et d’optimiser ainsi nos camions sur la route.
The Group had committed to reducing greenhouse gases by 7% within the specified scope, within 3 years. On the verge of reaching, or even exceeding this objective, and aware of the positive impact of these efforts from an environmental, economic and commercial point of view, it is now determined to recommit to the Fret 21 system over a new 3-year period.
"This long-term commitment to the Fret 21 project is fully in line with our global strategy and is just one of the many actions undertaken by our Group to save energy resources with specific targets by 2020 and to preserve the environment and people," said Kurt Lefevere, Vice President Northern Continent Industrial Gases Europe.
